Friday 21 October

Official Festival Opening: The Jacaranda Ball

6.30pm seating for 7.00 pm start. Finish midnight.

"Hats on Course", Grafton Racecourse, Powell Street, Grafton.

A formal evening of dancing where the Jacaranda Queen candidates are presented to the Festival President and Guest of Honour, Mr Des Harvey who will officially open the 2011 Festival.

Saturday 22 October

Jacaranda Children's Party

9.00 am.

Market Square, Cnr Prince and Pound Streets, Grafton.

Dress in costume: Nursery Rhyme Character, TV Character, Pairs, Jacaranda Blossoms, Cheapest, Male and Female Characters, Toddlers (U3rs). Selection of Party Princess and Prince (8-11yrs), Flower Girl and Page Boy (4-7yrs) for the 2011 Jacaranda Festival. Small prize and free refreshments for every child culminating with cutting of the "Happy Jacaranda Cake".

Parade of Youth & Banner Competition

9.00 am.

Prince Street, Grafton.

Come and join in the fun as schools entering themed banners march from the corner of Prince and Victoria Streets to Market Square where their banners will be judged.

Jacaranda Queen Crowning Ceremony

6.00 pm for seating and entertainment; 6.30 pm ceremony commences; 9.30 pm approximate finish.

Market Square, Cnr Prince and Pound Streets, Grafton.

A spectacular public event steeped in tradition to introduce the 2011 Jacaranda Queen candidates on their final judging night. With the renunciation of the reigning Jacaranda Party, who will be crowned 2011 Jacaranda Queen, Princess, Holiday Princess and Junior Queen and Junior Princess?

Jacaranda Open Gardens

10.00 am to 4.00 pm both weekends for general public viewing. Buses: 10 am to 4 pm both weekends. By appointment only Monday 31 Oct to Fri 4 Nov.

As the Jacarandas bloom, Grafton's gardens put on a colourful display of their own. Six private garden owners invite visitors and locals alike to stroll through their garden settings. Entry by gold coin donation.

Jacaranda Afternoon Tea "Teapots & Tablecloths"

Floral Window Display

Judging begins at 9.30 am.

Grafton, South Grafton and Ulmarra
Local businesses are encouraged to decorate their windows with floral displays to celebrate the blooming of the Jacaranda trees. Prizes are awarded for the best displays.

Thursday 3 November

Jacaranda Day

6.00 am to 5.00 pm.

Market Square, Cnr Prince and Pound Streets, Grafton.

A traditionally fun day where the colour purple abounds. Many Grafton CBD businesses dress in outrageous costumes and stage over-the-top performances outside their premises.

The day begins with a FREE Breakfast in Market Square hosted and sponsored by 2GF. Bring along a rug and enjoy the live, local Jacaranda Talent Quest from 10am to 12 noon. The Festive shops, offices and staff will be judged at 12.00 noon. Who will receive the Gold Cup for the Best Decorated premises?

Stay for the atmosphere, carnival fun and entertainment in Market Square.

Friday 4 November

Venetian Carnival

6.00 pm to approx. 8.30 pm for Fireworks.

River End of Prince Street, Grafton.

Set on the banks of the beautiful Clarence River, the Venetian Carnival is a fun filled evening of free entertainment suitable for all ages with dancers and singers. This year features the amazing "Chooka" Parker from Australia's Got Talent followed by spectacular fireworks display.

Jacaranda Float Procession

5.00 pm.

Prince Street, Grafton.

See colourful floats as they parade down Prince Street. Pipe bands marching, schools, community groups and businesses performing on their floats. Vintage cars, motorcycle groups and much more.

Overall winning float receives the Bunnings Grand Champion Float Trophy. Entry forms available at Summerland Credit Union, Grafton or at www.jacarandafestival.org.au.

Renowned for its friendly atmosphere and scenic course this is a growing event not to be missed. Runners and walkers are equally welcome.

8.00 am to 9.15 am for entries. Judging from 9.30 am to 11.00am approx.
